Care and Maintenance
Glasscrete Care Instructions
A special note,
New installations require a 14 day curing period, allowing the surface to develope it’s food and chemical stain resistant qualities.
During this time we advise NOT to let food or water dwell upon the surface. Wipe things up as soon as possible.
Your piece will also continue to harden as time passes.
Like caring for any natural stone here are a few tips for it to age well:
As a general rule do not leave food or juice to dwell upon the countertops. The surface is highly stain resistant, not stain proof.
No counter top material is made for cutting upon. Use a cutting board. Cutting directly on the surface will dull your knives and possibly scratch the sealer.
Setting hot items on the surface is ok but not advised. Use a trivit when you can.
Although the surface is extremely hard, the sliding of rough bottomed pans, pottery, bowls or bottles can inflict scratches, eventually dulling the sheen. This results in a “patina” of its history, which some enjoy. If preferred, sheen can be restored at any time, by inviting us back to lightly sand and reseal the surfaces. Wax is not recommended.
Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners. We recommend a dilluted vinegar wipe down followed by a fresh water wipe down. Use dishwashing detergents or the product “Holy Cow” when needed.
Glasscrete sinks and countertops are a recycled mineral composite specifically designed for durability and stain resistance. Blending ancient mineral alchemy and modern cement sciences with recycled glass.
